ShopeeFood Malaysia Is Launching Soon, Here's Everything You Need to Know
Shopee has recently announced that they are launching their very own in-house food delivery service, ShopeeFood, which will be officially launching on September 24. That being said, the feature is actually already publicly available for consumers in countries like Vietnam and Indonesia. This comes a few months after the e-commerce giant announced that it was looking for delivery riders and eatery partners back in June 2021.
But unlike its versions in Vietnam and Indonesia which require a separate app, ShopeeFood Malaysia can be accessed through the homepage of Shopee’s main app. However, you’d first need to enable your location to see the ShopeeFood icon and restaurants nearby. The service will be rolled out to users in batches, and is set to be available to over 8 million Malaysians in the Klang Valley in total.
To date, it’s onboarded quite a number of F&B joints including A&W, Burger King, Dave’s Deli, and Tealive along with small-time hawker food stalls. With services already addressing e-commerce, food delivery, grocery, payments, and more, the Shopee app is expanding to become a virtual one-stop-shop for its customers. The concept of ShopeeFood Malaysia is no different from competitors such as GrabFood or FoodPanda.
All you gotta do is find the eateries via the app’s search bar, then scroll through the desired restaurant’s menu to select a meal, add it to your cart, and finally check out to complete your purchase. Once your order has been placed, the service will then assign a driver or rider to pick up the meal from the restaurant and deliver it directly to you. Again, much like its competitors, the delivery partner’s real-time location will be provided to you while they are in transit.
Shopee said they will be giving new users Free Delivery vouchers with RM0 minimum spend and discount vouchers worth up to RM8. Additionally, it will also offer RM10 and below meal deals for a limited time from 24-28 September, so make sure to grab while stocks last.
